After seeing off PM Narendra Modi at Chakeri Airport in Kanpur, CM Yogi Adityanath took full stock of the ruckus from Chief Secretary Durgashankar Mishra and DGP DS Chauhan and instructed them that action should be taken against the rioters in such a way that not a single culprit remains.

He called up the Additional Chief Secretary Avnish Awasthi and asked him to know every moment and deal strictly with the ruckus.

Following the strict instructions of Chief Minister Yogi regarding Kanpur’s violence, the police arrested 20 protestors.  Preparations are being made to also run bulldozers, and the property of protestors will also be confiscated.

Sources say the riot was planned to frame Muslims

What Happened That Led to the Riots

Muslims had wanted to close their shops in protest against Nupur Sharma of BJP due to her blasphemous comments against Prophet Muhammad on national television last week.  When Muslim shopkeepers were closing their shops after Friday prayers, it was reported that the Hindutva mob tried to stop them and also started pelting stones at them and the Muslims retaliated by throwing back stones.

DG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that some people tried to close the shops in Kanpur. When this was opposed, clashes started. Stone pelting was done from both sides. When the police tried to control the situation, they were also pelted with stones. Senior officials also reached the spot and the situation was brought under control by using necessary force. The additional police force has been sent there. Taking an aggressive stance, the police have entered the narrow streets with full preparation.  The police were also thrashing the people

Stone pelting went on from roofs and narrow streets in Kanpur and did not stop and the police were also targeted. The protestors are identified from the video footage.

At the same time, according to the police commissioner of Kanpur, two people were injured in the ruckus. 18 protestors have been detained.  At present, there is silence at the Yatimkhana intersection and there is a heavy police force in the streets.
