IndiaPawan Khera "ditched" for RS ticket stirs disappointment in workers

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera from Rajasthan has been ditched for the Rajya Sabha ticket while others not from State were rewarded.

It came as a shock to discontented Congress workers when dynamic Pawan Khera, from Rajasthan, who has spoken powerfully in his debates on national television representing Congress was “ditched” by the high command, and instead others such as Randeep Singh Surjewala, Mukul Wasnik, and Pramod Tiwari, who are not from Rajasthan, have been selected to represent Rajasthan in the Rajya Sabha election.

The Congress on Sunday announced 10 candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections giving voice to rumblings of discontent and one of such came from party national spokesperson Pawan Khera, who was a contender from Rajasthan. “Shayad meri tapasya mein kuch kami reh gayi (Maybe something fell short in my penance),” When the tweet started amassing support on social media from other Congress workers and supporters, Pawan Khera explained diplomatically to soften his tweet, “ Congress gave me my identity.

Congress leadership comes under intense criticism after leaving out prominent leaders and great veteran leaders such as Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma, including party spokesperson Pawan Khera while selecting candidates for Rajya Sabha.

Sanyam Lodha, Congress MLA from Sirohi in Rajasthan, said the party will have to explain why no one was nominated from the state. “The Congress party should tell what is the reason for not making any Congress leader/worker from Rajasthan, a candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections?” he tweeted.

One by one, the Congress High Command is Putting Down Great Leaders

It is strange how the party high command leaves out great leaders and promotes ones that no one knows. Does Congress high command seriously want to destroy the party directly or indirectly? It is time to hold fresh elections and clean up the party of people who have no idea how to govern.

Senior Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai said, “To know diff in style of functioning bw BJP and Cong just look at their Rajya Sabha lists: BJP rewards many with strong local connect in their home state; Cong accommodates many who don’t even belong to a state. One is a sharp ‘political’ list, the other ‘loyalist’ adjustment.🙏

Today a sad for congress Mosse Wala a young congress guy assassinated and
@Pawankhera missing the Rajya Sabha seat. @RahulGandhi
pls don’t disappoint the common karyakarta. if possible conduct a phone-in poll to respect the workers’ sentiments 🙏 ( retweet this for Pawan ji )

“Congress high command you have erred
@Pawankhera
sir has to be in rajya sabha pls note
@RahulGandhi

@priyankagandhi
hope you listen to feelings of ground level karyakarta who have given sweat blood for Congress since 2000 as a teen  @ShayarImran
is very good but pawan ji better

The party’s move to select poet-turned-politician Imran Pratapgarhi also came under criticism. Party leader and popular actor Nagma shared Mr. Khera’s tweet and wrote, “Our 18 years of penance also fell short in front of Imran Bhai.”

The actor also said Congress president Sonia Gandhi had “personally committed to accommodating” her in Rajya Sabha when she joined the Congress in 2003. Citing Mr. Pratapgarhi’s selection, she asked if she is “less deserving”.

The BJP’s Rajasthan unit chief Satish Poonia ridiculed Congress over its choice of candidates. “Congress’s Chintan Shivir took place in Rajasthan. Now, look at another achievement of this thinking. Observe the quota of local candidates….without ‘local’ who will be ‘vocal’..?,” he tweeted.

Elections to 57 Rajya Sabha seats spread across 15 states will take place on June 10.
