Saudi Arabia has banned its citizens from traveling to India and 15 other countries, citing a COVID-19 surge in recent weeks.

Saudi citizens have been banned from traveling to 16 countries, including India citing a surge in COVID-19 cases there in recent weeks.  Apart from India, the countries where Saudi citizens have been prohibited from travelling include Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Libya, Indonesia, Vietnam, Armenia, Belarus, and Venezuela.

The travel ban was notified by the Saudi government’s Directorate General of Passports on Saturday.

As of now, the ban applies to Saudi citizens who wish to travel to the abovementioned countries. There are no new guidelines on whether Indian nationals will be barred from entering Saudi Arabia.

Coronavirus Cases in India in the Last 24 Hours

India Reports 2,022 new cases and 46 deaths in the last 24 hours.  India added 2,022 new coronavirus infections Monday, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,31,38,393, while the active cases dipped to 14,832, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The country’s total tally of official COVID-19 cases has increased to 4,31,36,371 while the death count stands at 5,24,413.

The death count climbed to 5,24,459 with 46 more people dying due to the virus, yesterday’s data showed.

The active cases comprise 0.03 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 percent, the ministry said.

Earlier, WHO reported over 90% of COVID deaths in India went unreported causing the Indian government to react.
