Earlier, Varun Gandhi criticized the violence against the farmers done by the BJP government in Lakhimpur Kheri and supported the farmers’ concerns.
Earlier Varun Gandhi had said that on December 19th, he visited contract workers protesting against the government, and while listening to their problems, he saw their distress. A farmer in frustration had set fire to his crops. Another time, a farmer of Uttar Pradesh, Samodh Singh, was roaming around in the mandis desperately trying to sell his paddy crop for 15 days. When the paddy was not sold, he set himself on fire in despair.
Varun Gandhi hit out at the BJP for the soaring sugarcane price and said party leaders do not raise such issues due to the fear of their tickets being cut. He has no fear because his family has also won the election as an independent.
