IndiaUP: Anurag's death, SDM screams at mother, 51 arrested for protests

UP, Gaziabad, Anurag wanting to vomit puts his head out, hits a pole, and died. What is shocking is what happens next.

Struggle After Anurag’s Death

Anurag a ten-year-old boy tragically died in a school bus in Gaziabad when he ‘felt nauseated and put his head out” which sources say is untrue, rather he was well that day, and other sources also allege a lot of children were feeling nauseated, and suspicions rise whether something was given to them in the bus.

Dayawati Modi Public School in Gaziabad Modinagar extended no condolences to the parents who tragically lost their child in the school that fateful day.  They could not feel the pain of the parents and instead of comforting the parents, SDM Shubhangi Shukla actually lifted her finger at the mother while yelling at her.  The school authorities act as if nothing happened and are instead attacking them.

The family members of the deceased child are sitting on a dharna outside the Modinagar police station. It features Anurag’s mother Neha Bharadwaj, her husband, and other family members. Crowds of people have gathered. Meanwhile, SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) Shubhangi Shukla starts screaming at Anurag’s crying mother.

The video goes something like this:
SDM Shubhangi Shukla – What is going on?

Neha Bharadwaj – You have spoiled the way, ma’am. With folded hands, we are asking you to arrest all three.

SDM – “You don’t understand anything”.

Neha – “What do you understand? Explain ma’am.”

SDM – “How many times should I explain?

Neha – “What did you explain? You didn’t explain.”

SDM (raising fingers and shouting) – Quiet. Just keep quiet. done. I am explaining for so long.

Tushar Srivastava journalist from Lucknow writes, “This is Shubhangi Shukla became SDM Ghaziabad after passing the PCS exam.  In Ghaziabad, the child’s mother, sitting on a dharna, is explaining to the sister and family members in this way in connection with the death of a child in the window of a school bus.
Same on u Shubhangi”

What Happened that Fateful Day

Ten-year-old Anurag was excited about school on Wednesday as he was going to be photographed for the year’s ID card. He asked his mother several times if his uniform was okay and even carried the school badge to ensure his photo would look good. Around 7 am, he waved his mother goodbye and boarded the school bus. What happened after that is dubious because there are so many different stories running. Some say Anurag died en route after he put his head out of the window as he was feeling unwell and collided with a metal pole, others say something else.

Shocking News By Live TV

Another story is run by Live TV where sources allege that most of the children on the bus were nauseated.  In fact, when Anurag left the house that morning, he was in the pink of health and sources claim that a lot of children fell sick on the bus that morning and the boy who usually sits next to Anurag was also nearly unconscious.  It is suspected that something that the children ate perhaps on the bus brought this condition.  An investigation is on.

Neglect to Take Anurag to the Hospital Instantly

Anurag was not taken to the hospital immediately as the uncle says, the bus first dropped the children at the school and then took Anurag to Jeevan Hospital by school authorities but was declared dead on arrival.  Ankur Nehra, Anurag’s uncle, alleged: “Firstly, the bus was carrying more children than it was supposed to. Secondly, the bus went to the school first instead of the hospital. We came to know that Anurag was lying in the vehicle for a very long time. Had this not happened, there was a chance he would have made it…”

Police Action, Arrests, and Cases

Police said a case of murder has been filed against the principal and the bus driver and conductor have been arrested after the child’s parents accused the school of negligence.  The school authorities are avoiding all media and do not respond to calls and messages.

On Thursday morning, the family protested outside the school and demanded swift action against the authorities.

“The family has been protesting and we have given them assurance that strict action will be taken. With regard to allegations of delay in treatment, bus license, and negligence, a thorough investigation is taking place. Two arrests have been made and more people are being brought in for questioning,” said a police officer from Modinagar police station.

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister’s office has asked for a report about the incident.  Three officials of the Transport Department have been suspended.

FIR Against 51 Protesting on Behalf of Anurag for Justice

An FIR has been registered against 51 people protesting for justice for Anurag on the instructions of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The reason was people had called on the people to mobilize for the protest on social media.

Rural SP Iraj Raja said, “A youth named Lokendra Arya gave a call for protest on social media on Thursday. It is like inciting violence. An FIR has been registered in the matter under relevant sections of IPC and IT Act.”  In fact, the family members of the deceased had blocked the Delhi-Meerut highway, accusing the police of collusion with the school authorities in the matter. Angered by the death of the student, his family staged a two-hour-long sit-in on the Delhi-Meerut road on Thursday.

What is shocking is the insensitivity of authorities in dealing with a grieving parent, and the woman who instead of comforting the parents and understanding their pain started becoming defensive to protect themselves.  The video is from Thursday, April 22, 2022, is going viral on social media and shows the SDM yelling at the crying mother of the child.

While 51 people were out to protest due to school negligence and the rough handling of the grieving mother.  Article 19 is being crushed when they arrested the 51 people who did not incite violence but were just out to support the parents.  “All citizens shall have the right to freedom of speech and expression”. The philosophy behind this Article lies in the Preamble of the Constitution, where a solemn resolve is made to secure to all its citizens, liberty of thought and expression.”
