Ms. Aarti Krishna from AICC has labored hard since the start of the crisis and here she received a set of students in Ukraine at Bangaluru Airport, coordinated by the AICC Secretary.  Many students still have to be evacuated and sadly, there is no presence of the Indian Embassy on ground in Ukraine.  In fact, when students are calling the Indian Embassy, their calls are being cut and there is anguish, anger, and fear rising among the Indian students.

During this crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a comment which was termed as an “insensitive comment” as to why students are studying abroad, perhaps forgetting that Indian students work and study across the globe.

Indian Students in Ukraine Feel Abandoned by The Indian Government

A student after arriving in India on being asked by a reporter what message she wanted to give, burst into tears and said that though we say we are democratic and we voted for the government, the government is not there for the people when they need them.  The government needed to help the students and be personally be there on the ground for them.
When the reporter reminded her that Operation Ganga was helping, and four ministers were there at the border, she burst out saying that the Indian government did not do a single thing to help the students, and requested the government to personally be on the ground and help the student cross to the border. She said Operation Ganga did not do a single thing to help them evacuate and the students crossed the borders on their own, facing many perils.  In tears, she said they faced many troubles. Her distress and anguish revealed how abandoned the Indian students in Ukraine felt by the Indian government.
Rahul Gandhi Congress leader said of the Indian Prime Minister who started questioning why Indian students are studying abroad during the crisis, “Instead of questioning Indian students, why doesn’t the Modi government question itself?

The students trapped in the crisis have shown the truth of the brutality and failure of the government.”

In a shocking incident, the Indian Embassy is asking students to clean toilets before boarding the plane and Congress tweeted “It is a ridiculous and the most insensitive statement.

Modi govt should hang its head in shame.

Not every place is for “Aapada Mein Avsar”

Volodymyr Zelenskyy felt NATO let them down but praised Ukrainians and said, “We are warriors of light.”

In the meantime, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy says NATO has given the “green light for the further bombing of Ukrainian towns and villages”.

“All the people who die from this day forward will also die because of you, because of your weakness, because of your lack of unity,” the Ukrainian president said in a passionate nighttime address.

NATO cautioned on Friday that inflicting a no-fly zone could provoke full-fledged war in Europe with nuclear-armed Russia. “The only way to implement a no-fly zone is to send NATO fighter planes into Ukraine’s airspace, and then impose that no-fly zone by shooting down Russian planes,” Jens Stoltenberg, the NATO chief, said. “If we did that, we’ll end up with something that could end in a full-fledged war in Europe, involving many more countries and causing much more human suffering.”

Zelenskyy assessed that the NATO countries have created a narrative that a no-fly zone would provoke Russia’s aggression against NATO. “This is the self-hypnosis of those who are weak, insecure inside, despite the fact they possess weapons many times stronger than we have,” he said.

He also applauded Ukrainians for their resistance against Russia’s invasion: “We are warriors of light,” he said. “The history of Europe will remember this forever.”
