IndiaPunjab CEO orders FIR against Arvind Kejriwal on Akali Dal's complaint

Punjab’s chief election officer orders an FIR against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Akali Dal’s complaint.

The FiR against Arvind Kejriwal came after the AAP filed a complaint with the EC seeking penal action against SAD Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal for violating the election guidelines during the silence period.

The Punjab Chief Electoral Officer on Saturday requested Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar senior SP to register FIR against AAP convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal “for violating Model Code of Conduct and making frivolous allegations against other parties.”

Meanwhile, a case has also been filed against Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Congress candidate Sidhu Moose Wala for holding a door-to-door campaign in Mansa constituency allegedly after the end of campaigning on Friday evening.

The case was registered under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code at City-1 Mansa police station, on the basis of AAP’s complaint.

CM Channi reached Mansa on Friday evening for the door-to-door campaigning of Moose Wala.

Punjab will go for polling on February 20 and the atmosphere in Punjab is charged with anxious anticipation awaiting the outcome of the elections.
