Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Ishtaye on Monday said that the remarks of Israeli PM were an ‘incitement to violence”.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Ishtaye said that the Israeli PM, Naftali Bennett’s comment on the rejection of the establishment of a Palestinian state is “an incitement to violence and proof of the Israeli government’s anti-peace stance.”
Ishtaye made the comments in an official statement released after the weekly meeting of the Palestinian Authority cabinet held in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
According to the Xinhua, Bennett was quoted by Israeli media as saying on Friday that as long as he is the prime minister of Israel, there will be no Oslo, referring to the peace agreements signed between Israelis and Palestinians in 1993.
He also said that he opposes the establishment of a Palestinian state and that he wouldn’t allow any political negotiations that would lead to a Palestinian state.
In response, Ishtaye said rejecting to negotiate the establishment of a Palestinian state “proved to us and the world the scale of extremism of Bennett’s government and its positions hostile to peace and negotiations.”
Ishtaye called on the United States and the European Union to intervene to put an end to Israel’s settlements in East Jerusalem.
Direct peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians halted in 2014 following disputes on Israeli settlements and the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 border causing fresh upheavals between Israel and Palestine.

Naftali Bennett is an Israeli politician serving as the 13th and current prime minister of Israel since 13 June 2021. A self-professed “more Right-wing” leader than Benjamin Netanyahu, 49-year-old Naftali Bennett was sworn in as Israel’s new prime minister ending his predecessor, Netanyahu’s historic 12-year rule.
He served as Minister of Diaspora Affairs from 2013 to 2019, as Minister of Education from 2015 to 2019, and as Minister of Defense from 2019 to 2020.

Israelis celebrated Netayanhu’s ouster Sunday in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square with many saying they feel “democracy is back”. Large banners were held and some read “Crime Minister” with a picture of Netanyahu’s face.
After the announcement, US President Joe Biden, who had waited over three weeks after his inauguration to call Netanyahu, immediately congratulated Bennett over a phone call Sunday night. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also offered congratulations to the new Prime Minister, while also conveying his “gratitude” to Netanyahu.
