At least six dead and 15 were injured after a major fire broke at the 18th floor of the 20-storey high-rise Kamala building.
The major fire in Mumbai erupted in the Tardeo area of south Mumbai on Saturday morning. After being alerted, fire brigade personnel and the police rushed to the spot.
At least six people died in a major fire that broke out inside a 20-storeyed residential building in Mumbai this morning. Another 15 people were also critical in the massive blaze that started around 7 am on the 18th floor of the Kamla building opposite Gandhi Hospital at Gowalia Tank in Mumbai’s Tardeo area.
Footage from the scene showed a thick plume of smoke billowing in the sky with flames pouring out from the building.
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar told news agency ANI that six elderly people needed oxygen support and were shifted to the hospital. The fire “is under control but smoke is huge. All people have been rescued,” she added.

Smoke will go up only. Keep calm and be near the floor. Manage pocket of oxygen till rescuers arrived . Jumping from a high rise means no chance to survive. #MumbaiFire @mybmc can you enforce DM plan for every high rise in Mumbai through a qualified disaster manager? pic.twitter.com/8n7UEk683J
