One unidentified militant has been killed in an encounter in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday, officials said.
The gunbattle broke at Mumanhal Arwani when a joint of a team of police, Army, and CRPF launched a cordon and a search operation following information about the presence of militants in the area.
” As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces triggering an encounter. In the operation so far one unidentified terrorist has been killed,” police said. Police said the search operation is underway. An Assistant Sub Inspector of J&K police was shot dead by militants in the Anantnag district on Wednesday evening.
A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about the exchange of firing between militants and security forces.
