The farm leaders have given the Uttar Pradesh government a weeks time to arrest Ashish Mishra, the son of Union Minister of State Ajay Mishra, who was allegedly driving one of the three cars which deliberately mowed through a group of farmer protesters in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday. Four farmers were killed in the incident, while four others died in subsequent clashes.
Earlier in the day, Priyanka had left for Lakhimpur Kheri after being released from detention. Rahul had left for the place from the Lucknow airport in his own vehicle after staging a brief ‘dharna’ on initially being asked to travel in a police vehicle.
The Supreme Court Wednesday took suo motu cognizance into the violence at Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh where a total of eight people died, four of whom were mowed down by a vehicle allegedly being driven by the son of Union Minister and BJP MP Ajay Kumar Mishra.
