The Center will relook at the coffee law to make it meet the present needs of the sector and promote its growth says Piyush Goyal.
Basically, the government of India is endeavoring to simplify Coffee Act to promote ease of doing biz.
This matter was discussed, among other things, in a meeting with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal with coffee growers, roasters, exporters, and other stakeholders at Coffee Board Head Office, at Bengaluru.
The coffee growers voiced their concerns over losing their lands in view of the notices issued by banks under the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest (SARFAESI) Act. which allows them to auction properties to recover their outstanding loans.
The minister reassured the growers that he will discuss the matter with other ministries and a solution will be worked on as soon as possible.
