Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said the BJP government is here to create disruption they are inhumane and evil.
Addressing a virtual meeting to mark AITC’s student body TMCP’s foundation day, Ms. Banerjee said they want to get on with their autocratic rule and choke all the dissenting voices.
She said the BJP government is trying to sell off the country — be it railways, airports, insurance, banks; and is trying to privatize all the government institutions.
“No one has any rights to sell off their country. Whenever I see an Air India plane, anywhere in the world — it makes me proud, reminds me of the country; but they are trying to sell it off. Crores of people have insured their lives with public insurance companies — and they are privatizing it,” the CM said.
“Why do they need to privatize the top public sector companies of India or rail stations? They will soon tell the people to sell off their eyes, or some other body parts when will they stop? Students across the country should protest against these draconian policies in whichever way they can,” she said.
“Coal is a national asset, and they are trying to privatize Coal India — is it not a scam? Why are they pointing fingers at AITC for the coal scam, especially when the security of the mines is at the hands of the CISF, which is under the Central government? I can name a lot of ministers who robbed Asansol of its assets. The central government can force people to accuse someone but that will not be the truth When the Hathras rape case happened, where were the CBI or the National Human Rights Commission?” Ms. Banerjee questioned.
“The post-poll violence report by the National Human Rights Commission, death of only 5 BJP-workers was mentioned. What about the 16 TMC workers who have also lost their lives? Why is NHRC only in West Bengal and not in Tripura? In Assam, during the NRC protest there was violence- why didn’t the National Human Rights Commission report it then?” she asked.
“They have made all the commission politicized. All people in the National Human Rights Commission are BJP supporters. I have even arrested TMC members if they have been part of any blunder. I am not against the CBI probe. I am against the fact that why a BJP leader had accompanied them during their investigation in a village?” Ms. Banerjee questioned.
“When I was an MP, I received Rs.l lakh as a pension from the Parliament. Now, being a Chief Minister I was offered more but I have denied the amount; but, the opposition is pointing fingers at me for taking money during the election? How did you guys receive 1000 bonds? Where did the PM Fund come from? Do an Enforcement Directorate investigation there. They are saying they don’t have funds for vaccines, but they can build big statues, parliament, temples. How are they getting the fund then?” she asked.
You guys have put Lalu Prasad Yadav in Jail for so long so that he won’t get to run elections in Bihar. We want to conclude by asking a few questions: Why is there such a rise in fuel? Where is the Ujjwala gas as promised by the PM? Why is the economy in such a poor state?,” the TMC supremo questioned.
“There is no federal structure in the nation. I want to call the all-chief minister meetings to discuss this. We are not getting any damage compensation, there is no share of GST given to us. The PM has uploaded his picture on the vaccine certificate. Why didn’t he put his picture on the death certificates of the people whose death occurred due to covid? What is this mentality to take credit for giving vaccines?” Ms. Banerjee asked.
