Chaos reigns while people desperately crowd Kabul Airport wanting to flee and 5 Afghans got shot by mistake while 3 fall off the plane.
In a tragic incident, while crowds flood the airport in Afghanistan, Kabul, it is reported that American forces shot at the air to disperse the crowds and ended up killing five Afghans. It is unclear how that happened.
Also three Afghans desperate to flee the country scrambled on the American C-17 plane clinging to the tyres and crashed off mid-air, falling on houses to their deaths.
President Ashraf Ghani has fled the country, and Afghanistan’s vice president Amrullah Saleh said that he was on “his soil and with the people; for a cause and purpose”. He also said that opposing “Pakistan-backed oppression and brutal dictatorship” is their legitimacy.
In the meantime, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that UK is working with its partners to send a clear message through NATO meet on Friday that “nobody should bilaterally recognize the Taliban”.
It is reported that the situation in Afghanistan is extremely bad and roads towards the airport are almost closed. Crowds flood Kabul airport while Afghans try to flee the nation. people tried to flee Afghanistan after the Taliban retook the country in little more than a week. This occurred after US President Joe Biden began the ultimate withdrawal of American troops, ending America’s longest war.
The United States led more than 65 nations in urging the resurgent Taliban to let Afghans leave the country, warning of accountability for any abuses. “The United States joins the international community in affirming that Afghans and international citizens who wish to depart must be allowed to do so,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken wrote on Twitter as the State Department released a statement signed by its close allies. “Those in positions of power and authority across Afghanistan bear responsibility — and accountability — for the protection of human life,” the joint statement said.
Videos and pictures flooded Twitter showing scenes of people fleeing, traffic jamming roads, while the airport was overcrowded, chaotic and heartbreaking scenes. A lot of anger is poured on the USA for betraying the Afghans. While there is fear everywhere, the Taliban is trying to assure the people they will not hurt anyone.
