IndiaRahul Gandhi to visit Srinagar August 9 to meet party workers/volunteers

Rahul Gandhi is to visit Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir on August 9 to meet local party workers/volunteers.

The situation in Jammu and Kashmir looks grim with the PAGD saying that since the revocation of Article 370, people are getting ripped off their jobs, losing rights to natural resources, losing job opportunities with the protection of land rights, and jobs removed by the Center adding a sense of gloom and alienation to the people.
During an informal discussion with the Opposition leaders at the recent breakfast meeting in Constitution Club, Rahul Gandhi mentioned to some of them that he will visit Srinagar soon according to a senior non-Congress leader who was sitting at the same table with the former Congress chief said, asking not to be named.

During his visit, Rahul Gandhi is likely to meet a few Congress leaders and may stay in the Union Territory only for a couple of days.

In this setting, the Congress party will also set things on a positive note for the party workers and volunteers in Jammu and Kashmir in building it up.

This is the first time he will be visiting Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370.  On his first attempt at visiting J&K during the abrogation of Article 370, the Center had “jailed” him in the airport not allowing him to enter Kashmir.
