Master poll strategist Prashant Kishor meets Congress chief Rahul Gandhi in Delhi, setting the political circles buzzing with wild speculations.
Prashant Kishor met Rahul Gandhi at his residence in Delhi amid the turbulence in the Congress unit in Punjab with infighting, so political circles wondered whether the meeting was related to that.
Harish Rawat, the in-charge of Punjab affairs, who was present during the meeting said, “Rahul Gandhi is a national leader. Many leaders meet him and convey their views. Prashant Kishor didn’t meet him to negotiate something regarding Punjab,” suggesting that Prashant Kishor didn’t meet Gandhi regarding the Punjab crisis.
According to reports, senior party leaders including Priyanka Gandhi, KC Venugopal, and Harish Rawat, the in-charge of Punjab affairs, were present during the meeting.
Earlier last week, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had met Prashant Kishor at Kapurthala House, the CM’s residence in Delhi.
This was Rahul Gandhi’s first meeting with Prashant Kishor since they collaborated in the Congress’s failed campaign for the Uttar Pradesh election in 2017.
Sources said Prashant Kishor’s meeting with the Gandhis was not fundamentally state-specific but part of a “bigger strategy”. The strategist had earlier met with NCP chief Sharad Pawar amid speculation of a new front to take on the BJP in 2024. Both have said that there can be no alliance against the BJP without Congress.
