Heavy rains had caused much distress to residents living in the area with constant waterlogging at ToliChowki Junction. Desilting has been initiated at all the 24 major storm water logging points to remove trash, rubble, and rubbish clogged in the regions and allow the clear flow of water. This is a long-drawn-out task to be completed within a couple of days.
Hyderabad is presumed to have moderate to heavy monsoon showers over the next 7 days, between 7th and 14th July. Torrents could be more severe and extensive with isolated pockets having very heavy downpours on 11th, 13th, and 14th July.
July and August are the stormiest months for Hyderabad with normal rainfall of 179.2mm and 207mm respectively. The state of Telangana has received an excess of 45% rainfall so far in this season and the week ending 30th June recorded an excess of 33%. The city of Hyderabad has also experienced 17% above normal rainfall so far.
The intense stormy monsoons always target towns and cities with flooded roads leaving citizens vexed and MLA Kausar Mohiuddin’s efforts to stop the waterlogging have come a long way to ease the people’s distress.
