Asaduddin Owaisi says that AIMIM will contest 100 seats in the UP Polls

IndiaAsaduddin Owaisi says that AIMIM will contest 100 seats in the UP Polls

New Delhi: Asaduddin Owaisi said AIMIM will field candidates on 100 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections to be held next year.

This came as a surprise as earlier, there was a consideration that the AIMIM will be fighting the elections in alliance with BSP.  However, Mayawati on Sunday rejected the rumors and announced that her party would contest alone in Uttar Pradesh and said, “A news channel is broadcasting news since yesterday (Saturday) that in the upcoming UP Assembly elections, BSP will contest along with (Asaduddin) Owaisi”s party AIMIM. This news is completely wrong, misleading, and devoid of any fact. There is not even an iota of truth in this. The BSP vociferously denies this,” she wrote in a series of tweets in Hindi.

Baron Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Hyderabad-based part has also begun the selection process of candidates, said the party’s chief.

All India Majils-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi said they will contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls in alliance with Om Prakash Rajbhar-led Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and Bhaagidaari Sankalp Morcha, a front of smaller parties.

“I want to put some things in front of you regarding the election: 1) We have decided that we will field our candidates on 100 seats, the party has started the process of selecting the candidates and we have also released the candidate application form. 2) We are with Om Prakash Rajbhar’s Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha. 3) We have not had any talk with any other party regarding elections or alliance,” he tweeted.

Asaduddin Owaisi announced that AIMIM is to contest 100 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.  During last year’s Bihar Assembly polls, the AIMIM won five seats in the Muslim-dominated Seemanchal region on the border of West Bengal and after showing ”good performance” in the Bihar Assembly elections, the AIMIM party on Sunday declared that it would contest 100 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls in 2022.

Legislative Assembly elections will be held in Uttar Pradesh in the month of February to March 2022 to elect 403 members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The term of the current assembly elected in 2017 will expire on 14 March 2022. Yogi Adityanath to continue as the Chief Minister at the time of elections.

Notably, Uttar Pradesh is one of India’s most populous and politically significant states with 403 seats in its legislature, and with Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi announcing that his party would contest 100 seats in Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, it would be a tough and interesting battle ahead!
