Special Police Officer of J&K Fayaz Ahmad’s daughter wounded in a terror attack yesterday, also succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
The incident happened when Special Police Officer (SPO) and his wife were killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday after terrorists started shooting at them in their house.
According to police officials, the terrorists barged into the house of SPO Fayaz Ahmad at Hariparigam in the Awantipora area of the district around 11 pm and started firing on the family.
They were rushed to a local hospital where the SPO and his wife Raja Begum succumbed to injuries. Today, their daughter Rafia was being treated succumbed to her injuries.
The Sunday incident came on a day when at least two Indian Air Force personnel were wounded in the twin explosions that took place at the technical area of the Jammu airport manned by the IAF in the early hours of Sunday.
Two Indian Air Force personnel were injured in the explosions that took place around 1.40 am within six minutes of each other. The first blast tore off the roof of a single-storey building at the high-security technical area of the airport manned by the IAF in Satwari area on the outskirts of the city. The second one was on the ground, the officials said.
“The attack at the IAF station in Jammu is a terror attack,” Jammu and Kashmir police chief Dilbag Singh told PTI.
He said the police and other agencies were working with IAF officials to investigate on the plan behind the attack. A team from the anti-terror probe agency National Investigation Agency (NIA) was also on the spot.
Presently, it is not immediately clear from where the drones had taken off and investigations were on to determine their flight path, officials said.
Since the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution a year ago, over 100 civilians and 100 security personnel lost their lives to terror attacks and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir remains very volatile and delicate. Despite being the heaviest militarized zone in the world, it is stunning that terrorists are still able to operate in Jammu and Kashmir.
