The Congress reminded the Center that the worst was not yet over as elated posts engulfed Twitter for their 5 million jabs in a day.
The Congress party congratulated India on the huge development of administrating 5 million vaccines a day but also reminded the Center that vaccination is a process, not an event, implying consistency has to be maintained.
The Congress party said that preparation for the third wave is imperative and developing the critical infrastructure, which includes getting oxygen available for the third wave and there was a recommendation for:
◆Speeding up the vaccinations.
◆Implementing the Nyay scheme.
◆Preparation to prevent 3rd wave by COVID-19 norms followed.
◆Plan against mutation.
◆Work on health infrastructure.
Congress also expressed their disagreement on conducting exams and said that in such a pandemic, one should never take a risk, as if one person is positive, hundreds will get infected. It is obvious that the second wave has taken many young lives and was far more lethal than the first wave. The party suggested students taking exams online since these were very different times.
They also said that people experienced unprecedented grief in families, loved ones have passed away, people have lost jobs, incomes have stopped, children have become orphans, and the government needed to reach out to these people in need.
Building the Central Vista, they said was an unaffordable luxury at such a time as this.
One of the youth coordinators, Gaurav Pandhi said, “It’s a great news that y’day more than 5 million doses were administered. The Govt should now maintain this number and increase it exponentially. Our country has great potential and we can do more. In Feb 2012, India administered 17 crore (170 million) vaccines in a day.” (sic)
Smita Irani BJP leader sneered at Congress saying, “Where did the second wave start? – Congress-ruled states. Which states had a huge percentage of India’s cases and deaths? – Congress-ruled states.”
Mrs. Irani’s statements are not validated by facts. UP, MP, Bihar, Karnataka, Gujarat which are BJP ruled states are amongst the highest negatively affected States with a severe oxygen crisis. Also, reliable sources have discovered that COVID-related deaths and data fudged in BJP ruled states. The dead bodies found floating in the Yamuna and Ganga was a part of the evidence to this horror.
Congress-ruled Rajasthan tops the list of vaccination of people above 60. 84% of people have got the vaccine dose which is the highest in the country and Rajasthan is one of the most populated states in India, which is an exceptional work of the State government. All the Congress-ruled states are giving free jabs, and Bengal and other States as well.
Notably, Congress did not create vaccine hesitancy at any time, but only asked for the release of the 2nd round of clinical trial results
The Grand Old Party reiterated that the Center must learn lessons from its mistakes and plan for the predicted 3rd COVID wave well before in time and prevent any further tragedies from the third wave. They said people don’t deserve to die because of the Center’s failures.
They also requested that a COVID compensation fund be constituted to support families who have lost their bread earners
May Congress leaders and supporters expressed their comments on Twitter:

The idea behind our White Paper report on #COVID19 is to provide insights & information so that avoidable deaths can be prevented in the coming waves.
GOI must work on our constructive inputs in the interest of the country. (sic)

The idea of understanding exactly what went wrong which is the foundation of the white paper and our suggestions there is to have a commission that looks into some of the shortcomings so we can correct them.

This is not a political fight, the whole of India stands with Prime-Minister, he needs to understand it's a fight against Virus not his political opponents. – @RahulGandhi #RahulExposesModiGovt
