HealthAndhra jabs over 1.3 million people in a day setting a stunning record

Andhra Pradesh sets a stunning record with over 1.3 million people getting the jab in a day, with the first dose in a massive vaccine drive.

Of note, previously, the state hit a new record by administering over 6 lakh vaccines in a day!  Now, this recent record has reached a milestone by administering over 13 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccines till 8 pm today. A total of 13,45,004 vaccine doses were administered to people across the state in this intense vaccine drive that ended at 9 pm. Thus, they crossed the one-crore mark in vaccinating people with the first dose.

“At 8 pm, over 1.3 million vaccinations have been completed across the state which is almost 50 percent of the national vaccination drive. It is a remarkable achievement to show that our medical team and other staff can take up over 1 million vaccinations a day if the government of India maintains the supply,” the state government said in a statement.

“Special compliments to district collectors Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari Krishna, and Guntur for making all-out efforts in vaccinating more than 1 lakh doses today In their districts,” it said.

The number reached 11.85 lakh at 5 pm, tweeted Arogya Andhra, the official COVID response handle of the state government.

This specific vaccination drive was initiated by the state health department on the orders of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.  Officials said the credit goes to the network of volunteers and healthcare providers who made this possible, with the understanding that vaccination is the only way to stop COVID-19.

The vaccination drive, with a focus on people over 45 years and mothers with children under five years, began at 6 am in more than 2,000 locations in all 13 districts of the state.

Andhra Pradesh reported 5,646 fresh COVID cases, 7,772 recovered and 50 died in 24 hours ending at 9 am on Sunday.

This remarkable move of Andhra Pradesh proves that with hard work, diligence, and most importantly, a comprehensive supply of vaccines by the Center, it is possible to vaccinate nearly everyone in the nation.  In fact, if every state worked like a little country in India during the vaccination drive, it is possible.

Many applauded this remarkable accomplishment by the Jagan Reddy government.
