In Rajasthan, Bikaner is going to be the first city in India to start door-to-door vaccinations in anticipation of a third wave of COVID-19.
According to a report, people above the age of 45 will be given the vaccine against COVID-19 during the massive vaccine drive in Bikaner. The Rajasthan government has started a helpline where people can register themselves for the COVID-19 vaccine by giving their names and addresses through their WhatsApp numbers.
Presently, two ambulances and three mobile teams are have been kept for this vaccination drive. The vaccine van will reach people’s homes only when a minimum of 10 people register for the getting the vaccine to ensure doses are not wasted, from each vial of the COVID-19 vaccine, ten people can receive a shot.
While the vaccine van will then proceed on to another address, a medical team will remain to assess the people who have been vaccinated and ensure there are no complications.
This is the first of its kind of door-to-door vaccinations of COVID-19. Door-to-door polio vaccines were conducted under Congress, which eradicated polio completely in 2014. Polio was not a pandemic and the vaccines had to done each Sunday, were conducted door-to-door, on the millions of babies born, and each year twice, to children up to the age of five. It was an intense drive, done in every city, town, and village encompassing the rural heartland of India.
Now in Rajasthan, under the Congress government, they are wisely using the same method under the leadership of Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister, Sachin Pilot, President of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, and many others. Good governance brings peace, health, and prosperity to a state.
