Mewalal Choudhary former Bihar minister MLA from Tarapur had tested positive for coronavirus infection three days ago and was admitted at Paras Hospital. His condition continued to deteriorate and he died this morning.
Patna: Former Bihar minister and ruling JDU MLA from Tarapur Mewalal Choudhary died due to coronavirus infection here during the wee hours today.
He was 68.
According to his family members, Mewalal Choudhary had tested positive for coronavirus infection three days ago and was admitted at Paras Hospital in Patna following breathing troubles. His condition continued to deteriorate and he died this morning.
Mr Chaudhari who was born on January 4, 1953, was an agriculture graduate and was holding a PhD degree.
He was Vice-Chancellor of Rajendra Agricultural University Pusa in Samastipur and Bihar Agriculture University Sabour of Bhagalpur. He was also a member of the agricultural roadmap committee of Bihar.
Mr Chaudhary also held various posts in the centre and later stepped into active politics in 2010.
Mr Chaudhari for the first time contested assembly elections in 2015 as JDU candidate by defeating Shakuni Chaudhari of Hindustani Awam Morcha.
Mr Chaudhari was however expelled from JDU in 2017 following allegations of irregularities labelled upon him in the appointment of junior scientist and professors in Bihar Agriculture University. However, he was again inducted into the party.
Mr Chaudhari won the 2020 assembly election from Tarapur as JDU candidate and was made Education Minister in Nitish Kumar cabinet but had to quit in view of the allegations labelled upon him earlier.
