Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Yashwant Sinha on Thursday said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will win Nandigram’s seat with a huge mandate.
Addressing a press conference, Mr. Sinha said, ” As per our information, We are sure Mamata Banerjee will win Nandigram with a huge mandate. When voting was underway, Prime Minister came to Bengal – even though in a different constituency – but such events affect the ongoing voting.”
TMC leader and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien said, “Mamata has won Nandigram. No amount of mind games can beat that. BJP has lost it. TMC is performing better than how they performed in previous elections.”
“Amit Shah’s mind game won’t work. Khela hobe. We are still considering going to the Election Commission,” Mr. O’Brien added.
Senior TMC leader Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, “We are confident that Mamata Banerjee will win Nandigram. BJP goons have threatened the voters and did not let them cast votes. EC wasn’t prepared enough for this phase.”
Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) said a separate handwritten complaint was received from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee via CEO, West Bengal today in the late afternoon. The same has been forwarded to Special General Observer Ajay Nayak and Special Police Observer Vivek Dube. They have been asked to send a report by tomorrow 6 pm.
“Media has covered the incident of alleged gherao of West Bengal CM and crowding at polling station no 7 at Nandigram seat today that inter alia resulted in disruption of the poll process. General Observer Hemen Das and Police Observer Ashutosh Roy were asked to go to the spot,” an EC official said.
“In his report at 4.06 pm today from Boyal Moktab Primary School polling station (in Nandigram), General Observer Hemen Das reported that ‘polling was not disrupted at any moment,” the official added.
