IndiaTejaswi Yadav extends support to AITMC in West Bengal Assembly elections

Tejashwi Yadav has said that his party’s objective is to stop the BJP from coming to power. “We will help Mamata Banerjee wherever needed,” he said.

Kolkata: Amidst reports of RJD’s alliance with the All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) in West Bengal assembly elections, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav met on Monday with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat.

Tejashwi Yadav led the grand alliance in the Bihar assembly elections held at the end of last year. The Grand Alliance included the Congress and the Left parties. The Congress and Left alliance in West Bengal, however, are contesting against Mamata Banerjee.

Hon’ble Minister-in-charge of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Mr. Firhad Hakim was also present in the meeting between Mamta Banerjee and Tejashwi Yadav.

Earlier, Tejashwi Yadav said that Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav had decided to support the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. “Our aim is to stop the BJP from coming to power. We will help Mamata Banerjee wherever needed,” he said.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has also announced and extended the support to Mamta Banerjee.
