Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Assam bore its fruit. With Congress leaders clad in no-CAA written on gamosas on stage, he made series of promises such as “We shall protect every religion, every caste, every person.” “We shall provide job opportunities to our young.”
He also said, “Congress will defend and protect the principles of the Assam accord. We will not step an inch back.”
He reiterated, “Whatever be the circumstances, we will NEVER implement CAA if voted to power.”
“If violence enters Assam, it will be divided and India will be hurt. We will not let this happen.”
“The hate which is being spread shall end.”
He also promised Rs 365 per day wage for tea garden workers in Assam if voted into power. Notably, representatives of the different tea workers’ unions have been demanding the Assam government to increase the daily wage of the workers up to Rs 351.33, so Rahul Gandhi was promising more.
It is noteworthy to remember that past promises made by the Congress leader on campaigns were kept. The recent farmers’ protests, the joblessness in Assam, and the CAA which is a very sensitive issue are probably what is bring on the winds of change in Assam. It is important to note that Assam will not play on caste or religion politics, so going forward, they moved away from NDA as Hagrama Mohilary, President of Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) said below:
To work for Peace, Unity and Development the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has decided to join hands with MAHAJATH in the forthcoming Assam Assembly Election. We shall no longer maintain friendship or alliance with BJP.
