Sidhi: Several passengers are feared drowned after a bus, carrying around 50 people, fell off a bridge into Bansagar canal in this district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday morning, police sources said.
While four people swam to their safety, search for the remaining passengers was underway, they said.
There are reports of more than 20 feet of water in this canal attached to Bansagar Dam reservoir.
Upon receiving the news, Collector Ravindra Kumar Chaudhary rushed to the spot with his team. Rescue and relief and rescue work is on.
Sources said the accident took place around 80 km from the district headquarters and some passengers were rescued and taken to nearby hospitals.
The bus had left Sidhi in the morning and was in route to Satna when the incident took place.
