In a 15-year-old kidnapping case of two children Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh, six convicts were sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 each.
Ballia: Additional Sessions Judge (I) Chandrabhan Singh of Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh sentenced six convicts to life imprisonment in a 15-year-old case of kidnapping two children and fined them ten thousand rupees each.
According to the prosecution, Ravati resident Kanak Pandey had lodged a report with the police station on March 7, 2005, mentioning that his two cousins Ratnesh and Shabham were going for coaching. On the way, they were abducted by thugs on a bike.
The police had arrested Mir Hasan and Pradeep back then while recovering the child from Gopalnagar in the case. During the investigation, the police had also filed a charge sheet against four more accused in the case, Asgar of Gopal Nagar, Munir of Revathi and Satyendra and Saral of Raghunath Pur area of Siwan district of Bihar.
Hearing the case, the judge on Saturday, after hearing arguments from both the parties, found the six accused guilty and awarded them life imprisonment as well ten thousand rupees.
