Trump administration had announced a ban on TikTok accusing the Chinese government of stealing US citizens’ data. A federal judge has stayed the Trump administration’s decision to ban TikTok
Washington: A US federal judge has stayed the Trump administration’s decision to ban Chinese company ByteDance on video-sharing platform TikTok.
On Monday, the court document said that a preliminary injunction has been issued to give effect to the ban on the TikTok app. An order will be placed with this memorandum. The judge said the Trump administration went out of its way to ban TikTok and called the act “disgusting and scary”.
The Trump administration had announced a ban on TikTok by the Chinese government accusing them of stealing data. The ban on TikTok in the US was to go into effect on 20 December, but management later ordered the company to sell its assets and leave the US, causing delays.
