Mumbai: The Bharat Bandh by farmer organizations announced today against the new farm laws had mixed effects in Mumbai and Maharashtra. However, farmers and political party leaders said that no one should be forced to join the Bharat Bandh demand.

The Vashi Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC), based in New Mumbai, is today closed to show solidarity with farmers who are protesting against the Center’s new agricultural laws.
Farmers unions, in collaboration with various political parties and trade unions, have appealed for the Bharat Bandh in support of their demand to repeal the laws.Vashi APMC is the largest organization of nearly 300 APMCs in the state.There is a daily turnover of about 50 thousand in five wholesale markets.
